John W. Nelley, Jr., a resident of Nashville, Tennessee received his B. S. degree in Accounting from Western Kentucky University and his Juris Doctor from the University of Notre Dame.
In 1976, he opened the office of John W. Nelley, Jr., P. C. specializing in Wills, Estate Planning and Trusts.
John W. Nelley, Jr. has been a partner in several entities during his career such as NWI Warehouse Group, NWI Butner, L. P., Sunset Partners, C & S Harley Davidson and Tune, Entrekin & White. John W. Nelley, Jr., also served as a Managing Director and member of the Board of Directors of Weeks Realty and Duke Realty (DRE:NYSE).
John W. Nelley, Jr. was chosen to receive the NAIOP Legacy Award in 2012 for real estate development in the Nashville area.
Rachel C. Nelley
John’s daughter, Rachel, joined his law firm in April of 2018. She has practiced law in Nashville since 1999. She graduated from Samford University Cumberland School of Law in 1998, earned her Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Vanderbilt University in 1995 and is an alumna of St. Cecilia Academy (class of ’91).
Rachel focuses her law practice primarily on estate planning and probate, health care law, funeral home regulation and administrative law. In addition to assisting clients in the areas of probate and estate administration and planning, conservatorships, guardianships, and trusts, she represents clients in professional licensure and disciplinary matters before various State regulatory boards both within the Tennessee Department of Health and the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance. She also represents healthcare facilities and practitioners before the Health Services and Development Agency (“HSDA”) in certificate of need application cases, in adverse actions involving staff privileges and in insurance provider enrollment appeals. Representative clients include two of the largest publicly traded providers of funeral goods and services, regional healthcare providers and non-for-profit healthcare organizations.
Executive Administrative Assistant
T. Kathleen Hollins, is a graduate of Trevecca University with a B. S. degree in Management of Human Resources. She started her career with this firm in 1985 and has been an employee of John W. Nelley, Jr., P. C. for approximately 20 years all together with a leave of absence (from 1995 to 2006). During this leave of absence, Kathleen, was Director of Human Resources at Bass, Berry & Sims. Kathleen rejoined John W. Nelley, Jr. in 2006 and her official title is Executive Administrative Assistant.
Over the years, Kathleen has been responsible for reconciling numerous bank and trust accounts, consulting with bank officials to open new accounts, preparing Wills and Trust documents, preparing Estate documents, preparing tax records to send to accountants and consulting with clients on several matters under the supervision of John W. Nelley, Jr.
Though duties are constantly changing it brings a flair of excitement to the day and there is never a dull moment in this position.
Nickie Pahle is an Account Manager at John W. Nelley, Jr., P.C., handling all daily functions for various trusts and partnerships, including, but not limited to bookkeeping, property management, tax matters, and financial analysis. She graduated from Winthrop University in South Carolina, with a focus on Political Science and History, before moving to Nashville and working as a staff accountant with a local CPA firm. Nickie has an in-depth knowledge of operational accounting and cash flow management and brings quality and consistency to account operations. She has a great attention to detail and thrives on the ever-changing nature of her work.
When she’s not in the office, Nickie enjoys being outdoors, spending time with friends, and volunteering in her community. Organizing the annual #Feed500 event, which focuses on homeless outreach in the Metro Nashville area, is a serious passion of hers and has enabled her to become an important contributor to various charities across Franklin and Nashville, TN.
